éclairs for breakfast: a sweet country baby shower

Today we have a super cute baby shower for you. This gorgeous baby shower was styled by the mummy-to-be Tahlia and her mother. The shower's theme was a lovely mixture of country and western, farmyard, southern chic and cutesy cowgirl. Tahlia took her inspiration from her Texan husband, her love of the outdoors, a set of cute little crocheted cowgirl boots (made by a close friend for the little one) and her love of the Hostess with the Mostess blog.

Tahlia and her mother styled the most delicious looking dessert bar. Set on a rustic outdoor table that was adorned with colourful handmade bunting, a variety of savouries and sweets (all made by Tahlia and her mother) were displayed on ceramic cake plates, vintage crates and wooden boards. The yummy treats included peach and apricot pies, mini pecan pies, apple pie pops, button sugar cookies, french toast with maple syrup, caramel apples, lemon and poppyseed muffins, banana choc-muffins, coconut ice and individual serves of bircher muesli with yoghurt and mixed berry compote while the savoury delights included croissants with turkey, brie, cranberries and sprouts, mini quiches, cheesy corn puddings and bacon on skewers. The gorgeous cake (with a cherry on top) was made for Tahlia by a good friend of hers.

For guests to sip on a variety of juices, chocolate milk and strawberry milk were served in vintage milk bottles with stripy straws (from Biome). Each bottle was decorated with muslin fabric and a baby safety pin.

Tahlia created a fresh and fun mix of farmers market flowers including daisies, sunflowers and gerberas that were arranged in glass jars, tins and drawers (of the guest table). She also cleverly placed sunflowers amongst the garden beds to look like they were growing naturally! Country hale bales (hired from Beenleigh Farm Supplies) were also laid out for guest seating, and vintage crates and a wagon wheel were hired (The Prop House) to complement the theme.

The shower was decorated with all handmade pieces by Tahlia. She designed delicate pom-pom chandeliers, pretty bunting, streamers and paper windmills. The tables featured hessian table runners and painted wooden baby letters.

Everyone arriving at the shower was greeted with a wooden baby shower sign. They were also given a handmade sheriff name badge. For guests to take home, Tahlia made individual jars of strawberry jam with 'thank you' tags (jars from the Reject Shop).

All of the guests wore boots!

What was your favourite detail from the day? It's hard to pick one thing! But I loved the bunting my mother & I made - the fabrics were really cute - we used the same fabric for the streamers that we had hanging above. They turned out really well.

It was everything I had dreamed of and although it took many hours of preparation (whilst I was 37 weeks pregnant!), it was well worth it. It all came together perfectly on the day and everyone had a great time! and just four days later - my baby girl Gemma Kay was born :)

A big congratulations to Tahlia and Marshall on the arrival of their beautiful baby girl Gemma and her gorgeous baby shower.

wedding love: a retro and colourful wedding

I love a cute and colourful wedding and this wedding is just that. It also includes two of my favourite things right now... yellow and vintage props!
.
This gorgeous wedding day looked like lots of fun with a very sweet couple. The bridesmaids wore pretty patterned skirts while the groomsmen wore bright yellow bow ties and socks. Their garden ceremony was decorated with colourful bunting and everyone waved congratulatory 'hooray' flags as they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife.
.

Throughout the wedding decor there was quirky vintage props, lovely old crates and bottles, colourful fresh blooms, sweet 'i heart Chicago' buttons and a yummy yellow wedding cake!

How romantic is the setting for their first dance and wedding day speeches?
